Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that contains many conveniences on top of the casino, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 tables.
